Liberty Point Baptist Church is a community of believers committed to loving God, loving others, and making disciples. Our foundation is built on unity in essential beliefs, liberty in non-essentials, and charity in all things.
Unity in essentials:
“There is one body and one Spirit… one Lord, one faith, one baptism.” —Ephesians 4:4–6
Liberty in non-essentials:
“So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.” —Romans 14
Love in all things:
“…but have not love, I am nothing.” —1 Corinthians 13:2
We are joyfully in agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message (2000) of the Southern Baptist Convention.
We believe every follower of Christ is called to grow spiritually and serve faithfully.
“Let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity.” —Hebrews 6:1
“…grow in grace and knowledge…” —2 Peter 3:18
God equips His people through pastors and teachers so that the body of Christ may be built up in maturity (Ephesians 4:11–13). Discipleship is not a program—it’s a lifestyle.

Our heritage stretches back to the early 1800s, when Baptists first settled in what is now Trigg County. Liberty Point was officially organized in 1871 near Mershon’s Bridge with just nine charter members and three deacons. Their mission was the same as ours today: to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
The church survived hardship, decline, and even relocation after the damming of the Cumberland River placed the building below the flood line. In 1961, Liberty Point moved to its current location in Old Dover, where God opened new doors of growth and ministry.
From humble beginnings to a strong, thriving congregation, Liberty Point’s story is a testimony of God’s faithfulness. And the next chapters are still being written. Only the Lord knows where He will lead us next—but we follow with faith and expectation.
